Rey's Birthday Party! - MCA Holosuite, Wednesday

The holosuite was a fickle creature and had always been as such for as long as Jaskier had been aware of it. So, it really should come as no surprise that all his hard work (he bribed some squirrels to help.) had been nearly been all for nought when the room inexplicably turned in a saloon.

But you know what? He wasn't a quitter when it came to parties, so he worked with it!

A theme never hurt anyone, right? So, welcome to Rey's birthday hootenanny, y'all!

"I think it might grow here," Rey admitted. "Like on a tree, or something."

"Now I have something to look out for on my runs," Steve said.

"You'll have to let me know if you spot one," Rey told him. "I'm kidding, but that doesn't mean I'm not right."

"I spent almost a month interrogating actual raccoons," Steve said, "which was not exactly a career high point, so I believe in the possibility of glitter trees now."

"It's easier on the brain in the long run," Rey told him.

"That was my guess," Steve admitted. "It's that or ending up locked in the gun shop for a half hour and start screaming."

"I ended up somewhere worse. At least it was only... half an hour?"

She had not figured that out.

"I kept track on my watch," Steve said, "just in case."

The last month had made him paranoid.

"Obviously I should have tried harder to get out."

But, hole.

Steve shrugged. "If someone was shooting at us, sure, but just having to sit there for a bit? Not a huge deal."

"I guess there's also the meditation room," Rey said. Not that she'd ever been there. Even though she'd like it.

"Huh," Steve said thoughtfully. "They have that?"

"Yeah. And a shooting range," she said. "Quite the variety in one place."

"I like both, so it makes sense to me," Steve said with a smile.

"Really?" she asked.

"The meditation helps with focus," Steve said. "I was trained as a sniper."

"That makes sense that it would help," Rey said. "It would actually probably help my shooting too."

"Learning to be still," Steve said, nodding. "Letting all of the noise disappear. It's not just for hippies."

This was very normal party talk, Steve.

"I know," Rey smiled. "It's just when I'm shooting at people I'm usually under a lot of pressure."

"Oh, me too," Steve said, smiling back. "That's when the calm breathing stuff is good to know."
